LVDT - DC Output (V/mA)
LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers, or, Linear Variable Displacement Transducers) operate on the principles of electrical induction to convert linear mechanical motion into a precise, proportional analog signal output. The LVDT is characterized by high accuracy, high repeatability and extremely long life. LVDTs are absolute in that position reference is not lost during power off events. The LVDT (DC) type features an integrated signal conditioner which eliminates the required external signal conditioner of the LVDT (mV/V) type.
The LVDT is a contactless sensor as opposed to the traditional ‘sliding wiper’ linear motion potentiometer. The internal LVDT core is not subject to sliding noise or wear and tear. Robustly constructed and capable of operating in harsh environs, the LVDT is often the choice in applications where high performance, high accuracy and worry free operation is crucial, like aerospace, medical devices, process control, industrial automation, just to name a few.
Essentially Infinite Resolution
Any change in the shaft movement will be detected. This infinite resolution is only limited by the signal to noise specifications of the signal conditioner and output display resolution.
