LVDT displacement sensors are measuring systems which operate on the principle of the differential transformer. They measure the movement of an object in one direction along a single axis and output an electrical signal in proportion to the distance an object has traveled. The standard electrical output signal is in mV/V requiring external signal conditioners, however, optional internal electronics provide analog voltage or milliamp outputs. LVDT displacement sensors are optimized for applications with small strokes and especially for applications in which oscillating movements with high dynamics or high accelerations have to be recorded.
Common applications include process gauging instruments, industrial process control systems, factory automation systems, heavy equipment, manufacturing technology and engineering.
