The most cost-effective method for measuring mechanical linear motion is with a linear potentiometer. P3 America’s precision linear motion potentiometers accurately measure lengths of 8mm up to 1500mm, and come in a wide variety of mounting styles and mechanical interfaces; push rod shafts with or without spring loading, rod end bearings, sliding cursor (shaftless), threaded shaft ends, probe tips, through shaft (rear shaft). High resolution (essentially infinite) and high measuring dynamics (shock, vibration, speed, etc.) to meet the requirements for industrial use. Absolute position sensing, signals, and measured values are retained (true power on) even if the supply voltage is interrupted.
